About

Susan is an art school drop out having completed her foundation year at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Art during tumultuous political times. Fast forward to her arrival in Charleston, SC, her chosen hometown after deciding New Orleans was too far away. She taught art and reading on John’s Island for 20 years, ending as the librarian for School of the Arts and earning two masters degrees. She is currently living out her dream of being a painter, adding collage, inspired by workshops with Ken Kewley and Catherine Kehoe at Cullowhee Arts in North Carolina. Her subject matter reflects her love of the low country, figures, gardens, and unusual objects from her various vintage collections. Her work can be seen here and there around town and in public and private collections too numerous to mention.
